INGREDIENTS

  • 3 medium potatoes, peeled and sliced into chips
  • What's Cooking Chip Spice (803184-K)
  • 500ml Sunflower oil, for cooking
  • 2 x 300g boneless rib eye steaks
  • 45ml (3 tbsp) FO SHO™ Spice (803222-K)
  • 30ml (2 tbsp) olive oil
  • 250g cherry tomatoes
  • 5ml salt flakes
  • 30ml (2 tbsp) olive oil
  • 12 slices sourdough bread
  • 1 red onion, peeled and thickly sliced
  • 1 handful rocket leaves
  • What's Cooking Brown Onion Sauce (802795-K) made according to instructions on packaging
  • 6 eggs, fried (optional)

METHOD

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C. Place tomatoes on a baking tray, season with the salt and drizzle with olive oil. Roast in the oven for 15 minutes or until they begin to blister.
  2. Heat 500ml sunflower oil in a medium saucepan and fry the chips until crispy and cooked through. Drain on paper towel and sprinkle with What's Cooking Chip Spice. Keep aside.
  3. Place the steaks between two sheets of plastic wrap and beat until slightly thinner. Rub the steaks with FO SHO™ Spice.
  4. Heat a griddle pan until smoking hot. Grill the steaks over high heat for 4 minutes on each side for a medium cook, or to your liking. Remove from the pan and set aside to rest.
  5. Assemble the sandwich. Layer rocket leaves and red onion on top of a slice of sourdough bread. Place steaks on top and drizzle with the What's Cooking Brown Onion Sauce followed by a few of the roasted tomatoes. Place a fried egg on each sandwich and top with a small handful of crispy chips before closing with another slice of sourdough bread.
  6. Serve with extra crispy chips and What's Cooking Brown Onion Sauce on the side.
